Western Pennsylvania Beekeeping Seminar

Friday and Saturday, February 16 & 17, 2018, at Gateway High School, 3000 Gateway Campus Blvd., Monroeville, Pa. Note the new venue.

The Seminar runs Friday night from 7-9 p.m. with Dr. Milbrath speaking about the “Amazing Anatomical Adaptations of Honey Bees”.

Saturday morning registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and will follow with presentations by both Dr. Meghan Milbrath and Dwight Wells. . Dr. Milbrath has worked with the University of Michigan in conducting honeybee and pollinator research while Dwight Wells is V.P of Buckeye Queen Producers and member of the Heartland Honey Bee Breeders Cooperative. WTAE morning news anchor (and fellow beekeeper), Michelle Wright, will be MC of the event. After lunch there will be breakout sessions on various beekeeping topics and the Seminar will conclude around 4:30 p.m.

**A Beginning Beekeeping session will be offered in tandem with the Seminar on Saturday and is limited to 75 participants.

Breakout sessions will include the following confirmed speakers: Neal Kober – Overwintering Nucs Fred Blosat – Cooking with Honey Mike Beougher – Swarm Trapping – Genetic Resource Jamie Walters – Queen Management & Small Scale Queen Production Kris Hughes – Selecting Extraction Equipment Cost is $60 per adult which includes lunch / $40 for youth guest (under the age of 18). Beginning Beekeeping Session registration (which includes access to vendors & lunch) $75.
