The PSBA summer picnic will be held Saturday, July 22 at Fisher Bee Farm, located at 1 Queen Bee Lane, McVeytown. (The same location as the picnic was held last year). The event will be sponsored by the Philadelphia Beekeepers Guild. Main course and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided. Guests are asked to bring a side dish and dessert to share. Also, please bring a lawn chair. This is an alcohol friendly event and BYOB. The sponsor will also provide plating, cutlery and napkins. The location is right beside a nice creek that anyone is allowed to play in. They also have a small zoo for anyone wishing to see live animals. The only organized activity is breaking bread with fellow beekeepers. The Executive Board will meet at 10:00 a.m. with lunch to follow at 12:30 p.m. All clubs are encouraged to send a representative. Make a queen swap from your really great colony. A queen swap will take place among anyone that wishes to share that great genetics. It would be helpful if you registered, so that we know how many people will attend the event. It’s not necessary to register to come, but it would help us out. 2017 Burgh Bees Annual Picnic 10:30 AM - 3:00 PM ish Location: Settlers Cabin Park - Gilbert Love Shelter (handicap accessible facility) Schedule: All Day Swap Meet: One beekeepers trash is anothers treasure. Bring your new or used equipment, tools, or gizmos off your junk pile and see if they can find a new home. Please include your name and price on the items. 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM: Program to be Announced 11:45 AM - 1:00 PM: Lunch 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM: Guest Speaker (TBD) 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM: Informal discussion with Q&A. To make the picnic easier for everyone, we are going to have the picnic catered instead of asking everyone to bring a pot luck dish. Everything will be provided except for any alcoholic beverage you would like to bring. Park rules don't allow glass bottles. The Cooked Goose will provide a buffet Cost: $10 per adult. Kids under 18 are free. We will be in the Gilbert Love Shelter. There are no electrical outlets in the shelter. There is a playground for kids nearby and dogs are welcome in the park.
